Blog Hop with Rinea and Designer Crafts Connection

Rinea is a foiled double sided paper that holds it shape. It is truly amazing!

Since it holds it's shape I wanted to try embossing and sanding to make some home decor and I will say I love the way it turned out!

Supplies Needed:

• Rinea papers - Available in a variety of colors
• 2 - 4" X 4" wood blocks
• Embossing folder of your choice
• Die cut machine for embossing
• Scissors
• White craft glue
• Sand paper - fine
• Brush
• Paper towel
• Folk Art Antique Medium
• Matte Varnish

First choose your colors and embossing folder, emboss your paper.

Once embossed, adhere Rinea paper to the block of wood. Make sure it is centered. Cut excess off.

Take a fine grit sand paper or block and lightly sand over the paper.

See below how the shine of the paper in some areas are sanded. It still kept it's shape. Now just add antiquing medium to the whole block including the top.

I added a coat of Matte varnish to protect. Let dry and they are ready to display!

I think they are beautiful!

Watercolor Elephant with Brea Reese

Hello friends!

Today I have a fun little drawing I did, I have been practicing. I thought it would make a great card! It is a Elephant! I love Elephants and I have been practicing drawing them.

So today I added Brea Reese Watercolors and used the Brea Reese Water based markers.

Supplies Needed:

• Brea Reese Watercolor Pan Set - Core Colors
• Brea Reese Water Based Duel Tip Markers
• Watercolor Paper
• Pencil
• Water
• Brush
• 
  

I started with my drawing. So cute, even if I do say so myself!!!!

I wet the inside of the elephant with water and start to add color. I build up color as I go along.

At this point you can start shading and add grass.

I LOVE the way the water based markers and the watercolors work together!

Let dry and come back over with black waterproof ink for eyes and toes if desired!

LOVE this little one!!!

I am going to call this "Never Forget".

Easter Egg Hunt Sign Made with Ann Butler Products

Hello friends!

I back today with a fun Easter Hunt sign. This was so fun to do with Ann Butler inks and stencils, you could make one too!

 Do you still have Easter Egg hunts? It depends here in Minnesota what the weather is like. We have had anything from 82 degrees or snow!

Are you ready to get started?

Supplies needed:

• ColorBox Crafter's Inks
• Stencil Girl Stencil by Ann Butler  Assorted Circles
• Stencil brush or dauber 
• Wood Arrow
• Wood Letters
• Bunny w/egg 
• Adhesive
• String
• Acrylic paint - Cream
• Brush

Gather all supplies needed.

Let's start!

Step 1.

Paint arrow and bunny cream. Let dry.

Step 2.

Start stenciling with ink color of choice. My choice was Lilac. Randomly place circle stencil till arrow is full of circles.

Step 3.

Using the ink like a watercolor paint the egg using ColorBox Ink.  At this time you can also ink the words.

Step 4.

Arrow and egg should be heat set using a heat gun.

Step 5.

Adhere words and bunny to the arrow and add string to hang.

Mini House for a Frog!

Hello friends!

Today I am working with Art-C Mini House box kit. I am going to turn it into a little home for a cute little frog. 

I removed the pieces from the box and traced them onto paper to cut out.

I did have to remember to cut two of each. Front and back. I then adhered them to the chipboard pieces.

Next, I adhered the pieces together.

Time to decorate!

Done!!!

How CUTE is this?

Watercolor Hummingbird with Brea Reese Water Color

Hello friends!!!

Today I am pretty excited to share a happy little hummingbird. I do pretend to be a water colorist, so with that being said.....I am pretty happy with the way this came out!

What I am not happy about is......I didn't use good paper and that makes a big difference! Watercolor paper would have been the right choice, however I was playing and didn't think it would turn out. Lesson learned, use good paper even if playing.

Here is how I did this.

Supplies:

• Brea Reese Watercolor Pan Set Core Colors
• Brea Reese Watercolor Metallic
• Watercolor Paper - Wish I did!
• Water-based duel tip markers
• Brea reese Fine Liners
• Paintbrush
• Water
• Palette 
• Pencil

Instructions:

1. Sketch out bird and flower. No detail needed.

2. Start adding paint and dry in between, using a heat gun.

3. Using the Water-based markers I added in some color.

4. Over the top of it all I came back with the Metallic water color and for detail I used the detail markers. You can really see the metallic on this hummingbird. It is beautiful. You will notice it in the final picture around the throat and chest.

I hope you like him as much as I do! Remember not to make the mistake of not using good paper!
